It creates a freshwater reservoir on the Sank River and is situated around 30 KMs from Gwalior city. Tigra Dam plays a crucial role in supplying water to the city. Tigra is very famous for boating, sunset views, and rich birdlife.
Tigra Dam is a popular picnic spot near Gwalior city to visit with family and friends. In the rainy season, Tigra Dam is full of tourists enjoying the beautiful weather with their loved ones.

I visited Tigra Dam on a beautiful rainy day with one of my friends to explore the beauty of Gwalior city’s outskirts. The road to Tigra Dam from Gwalior was in very bad condition but as it was under construction so I hope by the time you visit the road will be in better condition. The natural sceneries on the way to Tigra are very beautiful and mesmerizing.
Tigra Dam is situated in the Ghatigaon forest area. On my way to Tigra, I went through some villages. Once I entered the Ghatigaon area the journey became so peaceful and satisfying. The best time to visit Tighra is in the rainy season.
Tigra Dam – A Perfect Romantic Gateway Near Gwalior
Tigra Dam is a major romantic destination for couples living in Gwalior city. Every day many young couples, girlfriends/ boyfriends, and life partners visit this beautiful place to spend some romantic time with each other in the presence of nature. Tigra Dam is so beautiful and romantic destination near Gwalior that is the favorite spot for couples to do pre-wedding shoots.
Tigra Dam is the only place in Gwalior where you can enjoy boating. There is a boating club at Tigra which is managed by the MP tourism department. You can enjoy speed boating, jalpari boating, and paddle boating at Tigra boating club. The tourism department is planning to start water scooter rides and some other water sports at Tigra Dam.
A restaurant is also available at the entrance gate of Tigra Dam but I will suggest you do not depend on it because they don’t have much to offer. Tigra has a large bike or car parking area for tourists. Also, there are no guards and guides available at Tigra Dam so be careful about your visit.

How To Reach Tighra Dam Gwalior
Now I am going to tell you about the best way to reach the beautiful Tighra Dam from Gwalior.
Tighra Dam Complete Address – Ghatigaon Area, Mehadpur Village, PTS Tighra, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
Tighra Dam’s distance from Gwalior city is around 25 KMs.
The average travel time to reach Tighra Dam from Gwalior city is around 40-50 minutes.
The best route to reach Tighra Dam is to go via Gol Pahadiya Square. However, the road is in very poor condition but the scenery is very beautiful and mesmerizing from here. Also, it is the shortest route to Tighra from Gwalior. And the road is also under construction now.
On your way to Tighra, you will pass through some villages. There is not much public transport available for Tighra Dam. You have to book a cab or auto from the city to the dam and make sure about the return journey as well with the cab driver. You will have more fun if you go to Tighra in your own vehicle.
