Recently I visited India Gate in New Delhi with my friend. It was my second visit to this historical war memorial located on the Kartavya Path near the Rajpath, New Delhi.
India Gate is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New Delhi. It was built in the year 1921 to commemorate the Indian soldiers who were killed in the First World War.
It is an awesome must-visit site in New Delhi. I and my friend visited India Gate to see the newly constructed statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at the India Gate’s Canopy.

My Visit to India Gate in New Delhi
I visited India Gate in the morning time with my friend to explore the newly constructed statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that is placed under the Canopy behind India Gate. Every true Indian must feel proud after seeing the grand statue of Netaji at the India Gate. I get goosebumps every time I look up at the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
I noticed quite a few changes at the India Gate since my last visit in 2018, for the better. The parking area at India Fate is now organized. The food vendors are now relocated near the parking area and not in front of the gate and there is an organized underpass to access the walk area leading up to the gate. And I was very impressed with the concept of the garbage ATM at the India Gate. It is such a great move.
India Gate is an iconic symbol of New Delhi that is surrounded by an amazingly beautiful and well-maintained park. The National War Memorial, a mesmerizing place & a must-visit site is also located just behind the India Gate. It was really a great visit to India Gate in New Delhi and I recommend everyone to visit this historical site once in their lifetime.

Before Covid, the historical India Gate was open all day on all days of the week. But nowadays it is closed at night hours.

- Closing Time: 10:15 PM
- Light Show Time at India Gate: 07:00 PM to 09:30 PM
Entry Fee/ Ticket Price to Visit the India Gate
There is no entry fee for visiting the historical memorial in New Delhi. The entrance to the India Gate is free, however, the boating charge at India Gate is INR 50 per person for a ride of 15 minutes.
