Latest Covid-19 Update on Canada Tourism – October 2022

The Public Health Agency of Canada announced a press release on the 26th of September 2022 that the Government of Canada will remove all Covid-19-related travel restrictions for all travelers.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, like most of countries in the world, the Government of Canada has taken a layered approach to border management to protect the health and safety of Canadians.

But now, as things are going back to normal again, the PHAC has announced that Canada will drop all COVID-19 restrictions for tourists around the world from October 1, 2022.

Canada’s Latest Tourism Update – October 2022

Starting October 1, 2022, all COVID-19 border requirements, including vaccination, mandatory use of ArriveCAN, and any testing and quarantine/ isolation requirements will end for all travelers entering Canada whether by land, air, or sea.

Effective October 1, 2022, all travelers, regardless of citizenship, will no longer have to:

  • Submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website
  • Provide proof of vaccination
  • Undergo pre- or on-arrival testing
  • Carry out Covid-19-related quarantine or isolation
  • Monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of Covid-19 upon arriving in Canada

Transport Canada is also removing existing travel requirements. As of October 1, 2022, travelers will no longer be required to:

  • Undergo health checks for travel on air and rail
  • Wear masks on planes and trains

Although the masking requirement is being lifted, all travelers are strongly recommended to wear high-quality and well-fitted masks during their journeys.
